Reason #9 Why Studying in Lacoste is Wonderful: Visiting Artists

Now that we've established Field Trips as numbers twenty-five through ten why studying in Lacoste is wonderful, let's move on to number nine.

You can read in the "Reading at the Dora Maar House" post that we SCAD students got to visit the estate of Picasso's muse to meet two artist fellows and learn about (and participate in) their work. This weekend, an artist visited our campus here in Lacoste, where her current series of paintings, In Wonderland, are displayed in our Pfriem Gallery.
This is one of the paintings displayed in SCAD Lacoste's Pfriem Gallery.

In the talk she gave for the students, painter Joanna Wezyk told us about her life and history as an artist. She has a huge variety of work, and it was interesting to get to see how her art has developed as her focus shifted throughout her life. We got to talk to her and get to know her personally, show her our portfolios and get her feedback, and attend her presentation and her official gallery opening.
Part of Joanna Wezyk's Cathedrals series.

Go ahead and file this one under "Why Being an Artist is Awesome."
